Screams of ineffable joy!

We are still in the Austrian Alps.

As forests in the mountains, as elsewhere, serve multiple functions, different people want to manage them in a way that it provides goods and services that they are most interested in. Today’s study was about accessing and analyzing the different land use practices in one of the mountain forests managed by an association of villagers in the Styria province.

We did a lot of field work today. And there was a lot of snow in our study area. It was fun to work here today, as we never went out for a field work in the snow when in Finland.

We had our lunch in the jungle –

Walking downhill in snow was quite complicated! ๐Ÿ™‚

But the paths were fully covered with snow. And google helped us get out of the jungle to a main road after which we became able to return back. ๐Ÿ™‚

Photos from the field –

Later in the evening, we had discussion and exchange of our findings with each other group.
